Wear What's Real.
The world is wearing plastic. 60% of all clothing produced today is made from polyester — a petroleum-based synthetic fiber that is, quite literally, the same material used to make water bottles.
We were sold a lie: that synthetic fabrics are modern, convenient, and superior. The truth is that polyester is cheap. Not good. Not innovative. Just cheap to produce, and the true cost is paid by everyone except the manufacturer.
Every polyester garment ever made still exists. They shed 700,000 microplastic fibers per wash — into our rivers, our oceans, our food, our bodies. They harbor 10× more bacteria than natural fibers. They're treated with formaldehyde. They take 200 years to decompose. They pill, they stink, they trap heat, and they fall apart — then we throw them away and buy more.
This is not a fashion problem. This is a health problem, an environmental crisis, and a collective failure of common sense.
Cotton is not a compromise. It is the original performance fabric.
Cotton. A plant. A fiber that humans have used for 7,000 years. A material that grows from the earth, clothes us beautifully, and returns to the soil when we're done.
We don't need to invent a better fabric. We need to remember the one we abandoned.
The fashion industry has spent 50 years convincing us that plastic is “performance fabric.” We call it what it is: plastic. We will never use euphemisms to hide what our clothing is made of. 100% cotton means 100% cotton.
“Wrinkle-free” means “coated in formaldehyde resin.” “Easy care” means “treated with chemicals.” We'd rather you spend two minutes with a steamer than wear a known carcinogen. Real fabrics require real care — and that's a fair trade for real health.
Polyester is 30% cheaper to produce than cotton. We could make more money using it. We won't. The environmental cost — 35% of ocean microplastics, 200-year decomposition, chemical pollution — is not a line item we're willing to optimize away.
Fast fashion built its empire on disposable synthetic clothing. A shirt you wear twice and throw away is not a bargain. We make garments designed to last years, not seasons. Buy fewer. Buy better. Wear them longer.
We believe that informed people make better choices. Our job isn't to convince you — it's to give you the facts, the science, and the data, and let you decide. We'd rather earn a customer through truth than trick them with marketing.
Every CottonTruth garment is:
CottonTruth is not just a clothing brand. It's a return to common sense.
For 7,000 years, humans wore natural fibers. For the last 60, we've been wearing plastic. It's time to fix that.
We're not asking you to burn your polyester. We're asking you to think before you buy the next one. Check the label. Ask what it's made of. Ask what it's treated with. Ask where it goes when you're done with it.
And when you're ready for clothing that's made from a plant instead of a petroleum byproduct — we'll be here.
